Known as the cradles of the American civil rights movement Birmingham, AL and Montgomery, AL are bustling metropolitan cities located in one of the country's most green states. Birmingham and Montgomery also have rich indigenous history.

GEOGRAPHY
Birmingham occupies Jones Valley, flanked by long parallel mountain ridges of the Appalachian foothills. Montgomery lies along the southern bank of the Alabama River, downstream from the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers.
