This is our open invitation to people all over the world to come and celebrate with us from the comfort of their homes. Connecting to nature continues to be one of the ways where we can find healing in a time of great uncertainty. We expect hundreds to join us for the sixth time and some for the first time. Building upon the success of five years of sold out events, this magical fundraising event will bring together people from around the world including the most inspiring leaders, elected officials, celebrities, and diverse outdoor and cultural champions in a glamorous celebration to uplift our love of nature and community!
With your generous support, Outdoor Afro has been able to grow from a humble blog, started at Rue Mapp’s kitchen table, to the national organization it is today. For more than a decade, we have been able to inspire #BlackJoy within our local communities and influence policy makers to protect public lands from the local level all the way to Capitol Hill. Started as a blog by Oakland native Rue Mapp in 2009, Outdoor Afro is the nation’s leading, cutting edge network that celebrates and inspires African American connections and leadership in nature. A national not for profit, Outdoor Afro has leadership networks around the country. With nearly 90 leaders in over 30 states from around the country, we connect thousands of people to nature experiences, who are changing the face of conservation.
